How to Learn the Alphabet in Spanish Class
When I taught with a Spanish textbook for my first couple of years, we always spent a class period on how to sing the alphabet in Spanish. For proof, I wrote a blog post in September 2014, including the OG ABC Spanish marching song and teaching El Alfabeto with the ABC in Spanish song.
If you want or need to teach how to spell the alphabet in Spanish a Spanish alphabet in song form is the way to go. Here I will include many ABC songs in Spanish for how to teach the Spanish alphabet.
For full transparency when teaching high school Spanish, I stopped doing a set learning ABC in Spanish. Instead, we started the year with Name Game Speedball & High-Frequency Verb Unit to Start Spanish 1. Learning the alphabet in Spanish was moved to as it came up in “pop-up” situations instead. But, if you teach elementary or middle school the Spanish alphabet song in Spanish is always a fun lesson.

The Spanish alphabet used to include the letters ch, ll, ñ & sometimes rr. Many songs, teaching materials, and other Spanish resources still use an outdated alphabet. However, the current Spanish alphabet only includes one extra letter: ñ.
The main 4 differences & extra letters in the Spanish alphabet songs you might see are ch, ll, ñ, and rr. In most cases now, only ñ is included in the Spanish alphabet because the other three characters are written as and considered combinations of letters. A good rule of thumb is older videos likely have an older version of how to say the alphabet in Spanish or an older ABC in Spanish song.

This is the Spanish Alphabet song I used in class my 1st years of teaching. This ABC Spanish marching song is now outdated with 29 letters in the Spanish alphabet, which is now not true.
